Black Bear Casino in Carlton, Minnesota needed help from our “smartest square foot” experts
to determine where tile could be kept and where it had to be removed and replaced due to
both a soft mortar bed and tile delamination. We identified large areas that needed
replacement.
The first step was to remove the old tile with a ride-on tile scrapers during overnight attraction
closure. We then build up the new bed heigh to ensure zero transition to coping and step. We
completed the project with a sprayed Knockdown texture and two coats of an odorless, water-
based tinted sealer. The completed surface created both better aesthetics and a safer guest
experience.
